Another weekend without discos
Some people I know are suffering definite withdrawal symptoms. From a report on the website SentidoG http://www.sentidog.com/ dated 20th January, none of the 108 officially listed discos in the city comply with the security requirements and so another weekend passes without any possibility of hitting the dance floor. However the popular bar Sitges has re-opened and I noted a long queue waiting to enter as I passed in a taxi at 3 a.m. this morning.
Last night (Saturday) I was in a group of 7 friends who went to see the comedy play "5Gays.com - Despedida de Soltero". The theme is a stag party involving 5 friends - all gay - one of whom is getting married next day - to a woman! All appears to be going well but there are some surprises in store. The play continues to be very successful in Spain and is enjoying a long run here in BA. Well worth a visit even if, like me, your knowledge of Spanish is somewhat less than perfect.
Afterwards we went to the bar Titanic Club (Av. Callao 1156) for the show which started at 1:30 am. There were two drag comedians headed by the always funny Luis Guadalupe and four impressive strippers. This bar is long and narrow and the stage is at one end and even though the strippers step out along the bar it is difficult to fully appreciate the show from the far end. The moral being if you want to get a good view get there early and stake your place near the stage.
