Gays Away in BA meeting Thursday 5th May

Gays Away in BA will be holding the next meeting on Thursday 5th May 2005 from 10 pm in The Titanic Club.

On arrival ask for Ian (that's me - the organiser). If it helps, I vaguely resemble a bald, overweight version of the actor Anthony Hopkins.

Changing times

Time was when you could turn up at one of the city's gay discos at 2.30 a.m. and walk straight in. Not any more. Since the closure of Amerika and the limitation of numbers at the other discos, entries are at a premium and there are long queues outside both Glam and Angels at the previously unheard of time of 1.30 a.m. Get their early if you don't like to queue.

Gays Away in Buenos Aires meeting

The Gays Away in BA meeting last Thursday night attracted four visitors to the city, none who I had met before. It was an interesting and convivial group of different nationalities; there was Herb from Montreal (originally from Zimbabwe), Ray from Washington (orginally from Philipines), Daniel from Sao Paulo and Philip from London. The next meeting will be on 5th May at a venue yet to be decided.

Trip to the sauna

Last night we went to the sauna. There's not much doubt that Full (Viamonte 1770) is the best sauna (bath house) in the city by a long way. At $25 (pesos) to enter it may seem relatively expensive but it is possible to get 40% discount by printing off the voucher from the website http://www.afullspa.com.ar/ After having disrobed in the cramped changing area the experience is very pleasurable; the place is clean and generally well run with just about all the facilities one could need. There is one unfortunate exception and that is the rude bar staff who have never heard of customer service. Do complain if it happens to you, but don't let it spoil your fun.
