About the webmaster and his website


I used to recommend another web site in English about gay Buenos Aires but recently realised it is no longer maintained and the information on there is out-of-date and misleading. The web sites in Spanish also have the same problem so my intention is that this web site will be the best source of information for gay visitors to Buenos Aires. This is my view of Buenos Aires gay life after trying to put myself in the place of a gay tourist considering a visit or just arrived in the city. I created and maintain this web-site just as a pastime; I do not ask for any payment or other benefits from any of the businesses listed here.

During the two years prior to starting this web site I firstly founded a bulletin board for gay expatriates in Buenos Aires called Gays Away in Buenos Aires. I then started a bLOG after the terrible fire tragedy in the city on December 30th 2004 to keep people informed of the revival of the gay scene after just about every public indoor space including bars and discos was closed by the city government.

My name is Ian, I am from Manchester, England, and I am a retired project engineer and company director. I have been living in South America since September 1997, firstly in Lima, Peru, and since April 2004 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have traveled extensively around South America. I have a reasonably good knowledge of gay life and places in Lima, Peru; Quito, Ecuador; Santiago, Chile; and now Buenos Aires, Argentina . The best advice I can give to any independent traveler intending to visit this continent is to join the South American Explorers whose information resources, services and discounts will undoubtedly make your travels easier and cheaper. I have endeavoured to make these webpages viewable in any standards-compliant browser and I have checked the coding with the World Wide Web Consortium validation service. Readers with older browsers will still be able to read the pages although they may not render correctly.
